Reviewed by: pagosik, Snowboarder

Price Paid: $20.00 at The Window

Summary:
Boreal sucks huge... Besides the fact that it's the worst ski resort in the area, the staff is just a bunch of idiots. They held two cars in the parking lot for 2 hours after closing for attempted 4x4ing. Called the sheriff, locked one guy up, and gave a trespassing ticket to the other. We tried to be as civil as possible but the idiots on staff were just on one huge power trip. They were threatening to sue everyone, content with the fact that the sheriff took them seriously. Sheriffs department has nothing better to do up there, 5 cars arrived at the "CRIME" scene. I hate going there, the only reason we were there is because Squaw Valley was closed and we were already in the area.

Customer Service:
Sucks a huge one.

Squaw Valley is the way to go if you're in the area. Don't waste your time in Boreal.

Price Paid: $0.00

Summary:
This place sucks! Do not go here if you are an experienced rider. The runs are short, its crowded, the facilities aren't very good, and there are thieves! My brand new Burton Custom snowboard got stolen that day, along with 3 others. I hear theft is commonplace since it is right off the 80 FWY.

Reviewed by: AL, Intermediate, from Sacto

Summary:
Boreal benefits from being the closest to metropolitan CA, cheap tickets, and long opening hours. It's a place to get a quick fix and then move on to bigger and better resorts. 90% of the players here are snowboarders. As far as I can tell, most of them came because they are:

1. Beginners

2. Like the cheap tix

3. Don't want to drive too far

4. Need a place to practice jumps

5. Don't want to wake up too early

6. Drawn by the 50% discount on beginner rental package with coupons.

If you can drive further and you can afford the higher prices, I don't see why you'd want to go to Boreal. I usually take my beginner friends here so I can show them the ropes for a few hours and still have plenty of time left for my own riding.
