Summary:
I've been to the Canyons twice-once after a prolonged dry spell and found the snow to be crap and once this spring where the snow was solid ice in the am. A housing development is going up on the side of the resort closest to Park City and you have to literally ride over and under roads going to these houses. Plus, I've never seen flatter blues in my life.
The lodging is good-we stayed at the Sundial Lodge both times-and there is a shuttle service going into town. We rented a car for the last trip because the taxi service to the airport didn't come and get us as I had prepaid them to do the first trip.

Summary:
I visited The Canyons for one week starting 12/29/2003. The trip was great. Before New Years the mountain was a bit crowded but that is to be expected at a large resort during the holidays.

The best and worst thing about this mountain is the way it is laid out. The only way up is via a long gondola and you cannot ski down from the five peaks with out getting back to the one of the peaks that the gondola does not service. This proved to be a problem the one day the gondola and the lift servicing the peak of the mountain you had to take to get down was put on hold due to high winds. Everyone had to hike to the other peak or ride a snow cat down.

The way this mountain is laid out is also its best feature. The mountain spreads everyone out so much that if you take the time to move to the far ends of the resort, you can find plenty of runs that are deserted.

The mountain only had a few green runs. Mostly Blue, Double Blue, Blacks and Double Blacks

The snow was incredible (the best in within the past 10 years) and the guests and locals very friendly. Park City (just two miles away) is a fun city with great shopping (expensive), dining and a good nightlife.

I highly recommend a trip to The Canyons.

Summary:
I absolutly loved the canyons, the day I went it had dumped and 9990 served up quick access to the fresh stuff.this place is huge and spread out and provides endless fun. The park was mediocre, it had some ok hits and rails but didn't seem well groomed, but thats not what i came for. Overall the Canyons has awesome terrain with easy access and uncrowded trails.

Summary:
Overpriced for what you get. Snow is never as good as the other resorts, and you pay twice as much to ride on crowded groomed runs. Dont waste your money here if you are into skiing for the skiing.

Price Paid: $0.00

Summary:
The Canyons had to be the place to be this year, mad snow! Road in mid-March and the conditions were excellent, with minimal traffic on the mountain. Fresh powder everyday made for ideal conditions and when it didn't snow, the trails were groomed and firm in the morning, and packed by afternoon.
