| | Reviewed by: Jeff, DoubleDiamond, from Broomfield, CO Summary: Vail Snocats run a pretty good operation. The Vail/Ptarmigan pass area tends to be a zoo on weekends - powder poachers on snowmobiles get first tracks compared to the relatively slow snowcat. Skiing in the deep pow is totally sick. Be sure to try the car sized boulder drops in Cupcake. The longest run is around 1500' vertical, so not a lot of steep and deep if you're looking to rack up vertical. Still, after a whole day we totalled twelve to fourteen thousand feet. Their claimed "gourmet" lunch was more like down-home good; no wine and cheeze here. For a taste of the backcountry without having to go far, give these guys a try.
