Summary:
i skied with clyde's outfit year before last and the year prior to the avanlances of 2003. what i can say most asssuredly was that the two guides assigned to our CAT were extremely consious and conscientious about avalance conditions. they DID NOT COMPROMISE ON SAFETY. conditons above tree line were such that avanlance conerns were warranted. however they manureved us well out of danger zones and we got an average of 8 runs a day. everyone was exhausted. waist deep untracked powder the whole way down. food and board were comfortable with out flash and pretense. im a texan but met a bunch of great guys from clagary and we drank beer and single malt scotch in the pub or the hot tub and talked politics and skiing.

one added incentive...revelstoke ahs a population of 3000 but has one tremendous topless bar.evidintly the number one export crop of Quebec is exotic dancers. excelent show two blocks from hotel.

Summary:
I've been skiing a few days every year with Clyde (Newsome - the owner) since the early 'eighties. The Cat Powder folks are wonderfully informal, and bend over backwards to help you have a good time. They've good, wild terrain, and lots of it, with most runs beginning above treeline and descending through glades, slide paths, and eventually thicker trees before the pickup points. You might have to ski with the same group for a few days before you get 'round to the more exotic locations, as the easy access to Revelstoke and cheap package options means that many of the skiers you'll be grouped with won't be as hard core as you think you are. They'll call you to cancel or credit your time if they don't think they can give you great turns during your scheduled visit.

Reviewed by: Jeri, Advanced, from Jackson Hole, WY

Summary:
Despite the local's cries of poor snowfall and my own concerns about the unstable snowpack ravaging the Rockies, our honeymoon in Canada couldn't have been better. CAT Powder's guides endure intensive training and are extremely aware of the snowpack and the safest places to ski. You can't beat a French-Canadian accent, either.

The snow was at least shin-deep everyday and we made 7-8 runs a day. The vast majority of all of this skiing was in untracked powder (ooh-la-la). The benefit of going this year was that in coming years when the snowpack is back to its Canadian best, it will be deeper and visitors will be able to ski steeper slopes.

Each day was spent with the same qualified guides, some great skiers/snowboarders and run after run of untouched powder. The only time you saw anyone else was at the end of the day at the bar located at the bottom ofthe mountain.

Powder CAT Skiing runs an amazing company and I highly suggest making a trip of it at least once in your lifetime! The company caters to you (wake-up calls, rides to the ski area and CAT rides up to the tops of the mountains, hot tubs, bars, food) and the skiing was unbelievable!
