| | Reviewed by: ledonne, Advanced, from London (xpat from USA) Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Just returned from a fantastic week (16/2-23/2) of family skiing and snowshoeing in Flizmoos, Austria. The ski school, run by the Shorgofer family, was a great experience for my kids (boys ages 9 and 6)...the instructors were wonderful and classes were small in size. Plenty of English speaking kids on half-term break.
Snow conditions varied but were generally quite good...the resort starts at about 1000+ meters. Our hotel, the Unterhof, was very well run, close to the slopes and ski school and offered good food and a variety of choice on a halfboard basis. The kids loved the indoor pool. We were so busy (skiing or relaxing) that we did not have a chance to sample the massage therapy and other spa options.
Pristine and stunning off-piste sking below the Dachenstein mountains if you are willing to hike a bit. Fantastic snowshoeing throughout the area. Wonderful mountain huts with charachter (and gluvein!) Overall a better family resort than Niederau/Oberau/Auffach where we went last year and much more scenic and quaint. Spending Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning in Salzburg was a nice way to end the trip. Use the the backroads from Munich airport to avoid traffic. We are definitely coming back next year!
