| | Reviewed by: freakchild, Intermediate, from UK, living in USA Summary: Igls is a great place for the various types of skier. There is a superb beginner area here, very shallow and very long - great for confidence building. The mountain itself has a good mixture of beginner and easier intermediate selections, all very enjoyable ski-ing. There are some difficult (looking) black runs, but I would guess the advanced skier has no interest here. That said, Igls is in the Innsbruck valley and there is something for everyone a ride away on the free bus services. The range of the valley is quite vast and I enjoyed skiing at some very varied resorts during my stay. Cleary, Axamer Lizum is the biggest area, with a wide range of difficult intermediate piste. I also very much enjoyed Tulfes, which was very quiet, no queues at all. When I visited Igls, they had a very good year of snow and the conditions were superb, but I was made aware that this was not always the case and while there is never no skiing during season, low season can be patchy lower down. Risk of non-skiing is low however because of the various other resorts in the locality. I would visit Igls again, as its probably the best place to stay in the valley (the other resorts are small, and Innsbruck is quite dreary even though it is worth a visit). I would probably hire a car next time and tour the valley more completely. I would recommend it, and it is a nice place, but...there are better places to go.
