| | Reviewed by: Ian, Intermediate, from Geneva, Switzerland Summary: Argentiere has access not only to its own slopes but to those of Chamonix as well (by a bus) which makes for some realy great days out.
However, it boasts of one of the most challenging runs in the Chamonix valley, the Grand Montes. This area is known for its extreem skiing and snowboarding and, when there has been a significant snow fall, is absolutly wonderful!
Most of the skiing / boarding is off piste although there are some groomed pistes avalible. If you like powder, to be pushed at your skiing / boarding abilities, then this is the place for you.
There are two main areas, the middle station and the top station.
The middle station gives you access to a large area of off piste runs from the chair called 'The Hearse' and the cable care called 'Bossion'.
The top lift is only opened when 'it is safe for all'. Untill then the only access allowed (because in France you do have the right to kill your self it seems!) is with an authorised guide.
Food is avalilble at the bottom station and at the middle station.
