| | Reviewed by: malc smith, Beginner Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Just come back from Les Arcs 1800 (Jan 23rd '04 via snow train). It snowed for 5 of the days and thus the boarding conditions were perfect. The slopes were top quality and not at all too busy. I am a beginner boarder and there are plenty of blue slopes to practice on, but with the huge area now open it's perfect for everyone.
We (6 lads -aka snowmonkeys) were there over the snowbombing period, so we checked out the big air events during the evening.
The night life at les arcs isn't massive (3 or 4 busy bars) but during the snowbombing week there were some good dj's (aphrodite & mickey finn v. good). Don't go there if you want dozens of clubs/bars packed out.
If you want top quality skiing the get over to Les Arcs (we could ski to the door) along with a touch of apres ski.

| | Reviewed by: 1981, Intermediate Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: The slopes are wicked specially on a powder day.
Accomodation is cheap in Bourge St Maurice and transport to 1600 via funiculaire fast and convenient.
The people in Bourge are super friendly and there are a couple of 'entertaining' bars/clubs. For more vivid night life theres a few places in 1800 but if youre in it for non stop glam partying et al you might want to look at one of the fancier resorts close by.

| | Reviewed by: Emje , Advanced Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Claustrophobics, don't go there! Arc1800 is a crammed little village smacked on a steep mountainside with little room to move. Accomodation is rather expensive so if you're tight on a budget check out hostels (not in one of the 3 Arc villages though)or the nearby village of Bourg-Saint-Maurice which has a mountain-train connection with Arc1600. Strangely, the locals are very friendly to foreigners, which group consists mainly of the omnipresent English.
The boarding area offers something for everyone and its size will keep you busy for a week -or less. There are runs for every skill-level, allthough the number of upper slopes is rather disappointing. Moving around gets to be annoying because of the numerous almost-flat blue/green transfers, nice places to meet (in)voluntary pedestrians. Offpiste opps are abundant, but better not lay your tracks out of bounds after a poor snow period. After a big dump though this place is huge! In poor weather the lower tree-runs are great but crowded.
Party-animals: nightlife in Les Arcs -situated in Arc1800- is rather poor, a couple of bars/clubs wich attract small crowds. Similar Products Used: None

| | Reviewed by: Warren, Intermediate, from Redhill, UK Summary: Well, I had a great time. If you want to party go elsewhere. If you want to ski/board/eat/sleep then it's cool. Arc 1800 could be a better bet resort-wise.
