| | Reviewed by: vinny manilli, Double Diamond Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Les duex alpes is a vast resort with something different to ski each day when going for a week. However the best skiing is to be found above mid station; even for beginners, the nursery slopes tend to be very icy, and not long enough to actually practice. The lift queues are very long as well, especially between 8 and 11 in the morning. The green runs at mid mountain though are excellent, either for beginners or to warm up on. Overall, we had a great time blasting the reds and blues, but the blacks had very little cover so we stayed away. Terrain parks where adequate, but not enough variety to keep interesting. The much hyped glacier was too small an area, and was just ice anyway.

| | Reviewed by: Mr X , Advanced Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: spent a week in the great resort of les 2 alpes. the snow was excellent all week and we got about another foot while we were there. the pistes here are varied and very long. It takes the average person an hour to get from top of the mountain to the bottom with the longest run reaching 16 kms. the boardpark and halfpipe are among the best in the alps and this is where many of the boarders hang about. the night life in 2 alpes is very good with bars ranging from a rodeo bar to irish themed bars and also frech hip hop hangout "zanzibar". all the bars seemed to be ruled by the Brits making it very easy to meet people while your here. best night spots are Corrigans and Smitheys

| | Reviewed by: Herbacious Boarder, Intermediate, from London Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: This was my third week on a snowboard and as such I was looking forward to repeating the vast improvement I enjoyed last year.
Day one was fine - I found a couple of green runs with enough incline to generate motion and interest, so spent the entire day ploughing up and down regaining my technique.
Day two, a blizzard closed the top of the mountain, so I repeated day one's exercise.
Day three, I went a little further up the mountain and tried a couple of decent length blue runs. These have been designated blue because of the overall drop in relation to the distance covered. What they do not tell you is that they are a combination of 45 degree drops and uphill stretches (sometimes very narrow) - consequently much time is spent either back-edging or scootering / walking.
There are a few of the lower slopes which would have been ideal for my improvement, but were, frustratingly, served by drag lifts and so not great for snowboarders.
Consequently all I was able to get from the week was a substantial improvement in my ability to carve on gentle green runs, and came away feeling immensly frustrated that I was unable to really exploit the resort and build on my ability for next year.
I should reiterate that my frustrations are almost solely borne out of the fact that I am an "improving" snowboarder - skiers and more avanced (or even first time) boarders I spoke to enthused about the hills, but if you are an intermediate boarder, try to find somewhere else (nearby Alp d'Huez for example which was terrific).
One final gripe was that the runs appeared to be very poorly signposted, and consequently it was impossible to tell whether you were setting off on a green or a black untill it was too late!

| | Reviewed by: Dav , Intermediate, from Manchester Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: I went to Les Deux last year and the snow was ok, not great but ok. The boarding was good on certain runs and real bad on others, most of the runs seem to be heavily mogulled and therefore were hard work. The resort night life was good though and the people were all up for a good laugh. Except for the French of course, they seem to have a real bad attitude towards us. But i suppose most European countries hate the British these days. The Lifts weren't very organised and it was a case of who pushed the hardest got on first. My friend had an accident getting on the T-Bar and it hit him in the face and knocked him unconcious and bleeding, but the french lift attendant just ignorred him and carried on trying to load more people onto the lift with my friend sprawlled accross the floor..
