Visited Val with Sanctuary Ski Club from January 20-27 of 2001. We stayed at Hotel La Savoyarde, a very nice three-star with a great location. Dining at the hotel was first rate, said to be amongst the best in town. Killer wine list! Some rooms were small, but who really cares. Skiing was fantastic! The terrain in Espace Killy literally goes on forever. Beginners need not apply. Fast cruising and off-piste is the daily bread. Lift system is very efficient; we waited in virtually no lines the whole week. Of course it was early season... Starting your day off by skiing above the La Daille funicular and making your way in to Val Claret and Tignes and then working back to the town of Val is quite rewarding. In addition to skiing, there is a fine indoor pool as well as a nice ice skating rink close by the Bellevarde lifts. Also one can ice climb and do snow shoe treks right out of town. Overall, an alpine paradise!
