Reviewed by: George mORRISON, Double Diamond, from sEATTLE

Price Paid: $0.00

Summary:
Serre Che has some fabulous steeps accessible from the Monetier side. 4300 verts and some hair raising couloirs off Cucumelle that drop back into the main area with as little as a 30 minute hike. chutes with multiple entrees and steeps average in the very high 40 degrees and beyond. Tree skiing during a storm can be exceptional as well. Nice long steeps off L'eychaud chair. It appears small from the base but actually rises 43oo vert from town. It's more of a middle class resort and the facilities are drab, in fact rather trashy (plastic chairs, more cigarette butts than snow and EVERYBODY, EVEN BABIES are smoking) by american standards but with steeps like this who cares? The french don't bother so with a guide you have some very nice terrain and little competition for pow. And you jump over the Col du lauteret and you've got La Grave but that's another story
