Summary:
I have been to Davos twice. Swiss fly /rail system means that you get a nice, pretty train journey.A real eye opener for London rail commuters. Your luggage is sent onto the hotel once you have checked it in at the airport. Sheduled flights also beat the throng at Gatwick for Saturday charters. Whole of Davos is classy in an understated sort of way. They hold the World Economic summit here every year and countless other conventions and jollies for various professions.So they know how to look after people. Lifts are not as efficient as France but Swiss are environmentally conscious and worry about impact of upgrades. It is a big area including Klosters. Trains and post buses used to be included in the lift pass. I skied Davos with Ski Club of Great Britain and got shown all the good slopes without having to bother too much about reading the piste maps. Also got taken to some fine restaurants during the day. I do not normally bother with lunch but as everybody else was eating....Food and service in the hotels was also exceptional. People think Switzerland is expensive but if you want a hotel holiday then it is cheaper than the top French resorts. As I get older and want more comfort then Switzerland becomes more appealing. Swiss tourist board has also been doing some good promotions with free lift passes for children etc. You may find it posh in a 'fur coat, cuban cigar' sort of way, but at least they are not the brash, nouveau riche types that you get in St Moritz. When I got on the train in Zurich I was joined by a couple of fur-coated women who were heading to St Moritz. They were worried about making up a four for bridge and one of them was upset that she had lost her earrings at the opera and did not have suitable replacements! Hardly the number one concerns of most women skiers you meet. You can easily ski St Moritz from Davos using the train. Snow on Corviglia was icier than in Davos but it made a nice day trip. Parsenn had best snow on my last Davos trip and Strela was outside the lift pass.Some of the other areas were icy or heavy in the afternoon. There was a black run on Parsenn down to a restaurant that was a doddle one day and a nightmare the next once it got icy. I will definitely be back again in due course.

Summary:
I love this place. Even last year without snow, it was fun. The 2nd week in January, there is almost no one there, and I hardly had to wait for a lift. You ski/board about the treeline, but you can string runs togther from the top to the bottom of the mountain (if there's snow to do it), and I had no trouble with anyone while I was there. It's a great place for intermediate riders. Hope you visit and enjoy!

Summary:
Go preseason to stay away from large crowds pay less for hotel, lift tickets and rental if you don't bring your board. Prices comparable to states on regular season. Food is very yummy on the slopes washed down with a beer or other concoction.

I agree with Mathew, except:
In the Parsenn area (the biggest part), the terrain is easy. Compared to other resorts, the black runs are actually red, red are blue etc. If you're looking for skiing action, this is not the place. If you're boarder you might even be annoyed because there are many quite flat runs you'll even have to walk...

Additionally,
(we) Europeans are killers in lift lines. "Active" queing is normal in Europe and not specific to Davos. With crowds it's similiar. Compared to the new world, more people are living close to the resorts and go there for a day of skiing. Dicipline in general is higher in Europe, so it's not so problematic.
