Summary:
If you can only go to one European Ski Resort in your lifetime, make it Zermatt. Getting there takes extra effort, however, it is a vacation of a lifetime. The town is very romantic and gas powered vehicles are not allowed in the village. The major hotels are very nice and have outstanding food and entertainment. The skiing is also good and provides excellent terrain for every level of skier. Being the highest resort in the Alps, there's always good snow at Zermatt and the season lasts longer than other areas. The scenery from the ski slopes is breath taking, and the multitude of restaurants and lodges on the mountain provides outstanding food and comfort.

Summary:
If you like dodging electric cars, waiting for crowded buses, riding old lifts, paying 35% higher prices than other respected European resorts than Zermatt is for you. If I wanted to see outstanding views I would have come in the summer, I came for skiing and its a real dissappointment. I have skied almost every ski resort in the West and Whistler along with some key European resorts so I know what I am talking about.
The only highlight was skiing into Italy. At least Cervina has updated lifts. Also I forgot to mention that none of Zermatt's areas are interconnected. I don't care if its because of politics in the city, I am a customer and I expect value for the high prices. All I could think about is that I wasted a trip here instead of Val d'Isere where I have gone the last 4 years. But I am open minded and will try Val Gardena or Lech in 2003.

Summary:
This is a really excellent resort. Snow conditons are always excellent with a lot of trails and many off-piste selections. Prices are reasonable especially when SFr is low at this moment. All kinds of ski equipment even the most top rank can be hired there. You can ski the whole day and swim in hot pool before you have dinner. Very relaxing!

Summary:
Overall, this is the best resort I have ever been to and probably will ever have the chance at ripping up. All the mountains have different terrains. Trust me, you will never get bored. The views of the mountains are amazing so dont forget your camera. The pipes and parks are pretty good. There is nothing like getting backside air with the Matterhorn in the background.

This place is truly heaven and I cant wait to return.
