| | Reviewed by: eaglejackson, Snowboarder Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: My experience at GCHS was so-so. They were not very snowboard friendly. After a few no fly days, we did two 40,000 days in a row, more than we wanted. I've been to other, more enjoyable, heli places before and since, and most likely won't go back. Great Canadian Heli Skiing is located in the Selkirk Range about 4 Hrs. west of Calgary on Hwy. 1, just north of Glacier National Park. AWSOME LOCATION...this place is relatively easy to get to. When you are at a 9000 ft. peak, all the mountains look pretty much the same. Weather effects all resorts in the area basically the same. So the skiing is as great as expected from this type of adventure and is about the same everywhere. They have the best terrain ranging from easy to very difficult and changing conditions. The heli drops are as exciting as the ride down the slopes. Safety is their top priority so they do not take unecessary chances where avalanch danger is present.
What does set this outfit apart from the rest is the good people that work and run the place. Owners, Pilots, Guides, Lodge Staff, Bartenders!, & Cooks set a standard that is hard to acheive. This outfit is more intimate and satisfaction conscious than the others and we never felt like a they were trying to extract every extra dollar out of us.
