| | Reviewed by: Ned Cockburn, Advanced, from coffs harbour, nsw, australia Summary: Remarks is great when it has snow but has a heap of rocks when it doesn't. The sonw is quite good quality and not icy like Treble Cone and Coronet Peak.Weakneses:like most nz resorts it is small so after a while it gets boring on piste. However if your willing to hike remarks has some excellent chutes(hike from top of shadow basin quad). Another bad thing is that 2 of the 3 areas are begginer/intermediate areas. If you an advanced skier Shadow Basin is the place to go. There is a small terrain park but it has some nice jumps. remarks is good for all levels of skiers.

| | Reviewed by: Steve, Advanced, from Sacramento, CA USA Summary: My first experience of ski parks was in California. I thought they were all comparable. If you Like California parks, YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED with what New Zealand has to offer. Do NOT go to NEW ZEALAND to ski/board, go there for a vacation, and leave your skis/board at home-its a waste of time. The parks are small (New Zealand in general), they have very few lifts, they just do not have enough natural bowls to create good runs. And it is irritating the way they mark their trails. Sometimes you run into a cliff that has no marker and you do not know if it is a trail or not! Although the lift prices are cheap, the rule of thumb is you get what you pay for.

| | Reviewed by: Jeffery Watkins, Intermediate, from Cincinnati, Ohio USA Summary: Larger then some of the other fields in the area but still fairly small by Western US standards. Particularly for beginners. But the snow and terrain are great. Also, don't say in the "big" resorts in town. Say in one of the smaller hotels. The people in New Zealand are very friendly and great fun. This area of New Zealand is spectacular if you like clean air, friendly people, skiing, hiking, absolutely incrediable mountains/landscape.
