Summary:
Went to Gunstock for the weekend 3/16/01. A decent place to bring the kids, whereas there are many intermediate trails.
Conditions were great, 50 degrees, and powder, well groomed trails, no complaints there. Really nice lodge, they sunk about ten million into the place, and it shows. Night skiing is a plus also, but only half the mountain open at night. A problem if your'e from out of town, like us, though. No restaurants AT ALL in the area, REALLY out in the boonies!!! Only 1 hotel (Gunstock Inn) within about 10 miles, and considering the place, it ain't cheap. Their restaurant is good, but the only game in town, so they get all the money. Quite honestly, I would'nt bother with Gunstock, mainly because of the area it's in. Leave it for the locals, and stick with the built-up resorts. You may spend a few more dollars, (maybe) but at least you will enjoy yourself, and that's why we go, isn't it? p.s. My son hurt his knee boarding, on Sat. night, and we were the only occupants of the shuttle, (which is the back of a flatbed) and they wouldn't drop us close to our car, which looked like a spec across an empty parking lot. I begged with the two men operating the shuttle, who would only tell me "this is the stop". I carried my 10 yr. old, (90lbs.)to the car, walking in ski boots, at least 500 yds. Thanks guys, really classy of you. That's why you won't be seeing me there again

Reviewed by: Maynard, Intermediate, from Boston, MA, USA

Summary:
This is the very first place i learned to board. It was this season, and my first time was excellent, although i had nothing to compare it to. I had such a good time, i came the next day, but i wasn't planning to. That was the second week of January 2001. Ever since, i've been there about seven or eight times. It gets boring after a while, and all you wanna do is find some different terrain. But i always find myself going back there. If you would like to learn on steep, but no so long hills, go here. If you would like to learn on a very very long bunny hill, go to Wachusett Mountain in MA.

Summary:
Good place to go to have a good time. Price is good during the week, and when there is a lot of natural snow it is a great place to learn and improve your abilities.
