Summary:
I've skied at Belleayre for 10 years now and have been blown away by the recent changes (since 2004). They have redesigned trails and added additional black diamond runs which were lacking previously. The staff are always kind and pleasant. For beginners, their learn to ski program is well worth it and the back country skiing is always peaceful, beautiful and fun!!! I've never had a complaint about their food just access to bathrooms from the Tomahawk lift and even this has been changed! The snow is always groomed beautifully and the new Area 51 allows the snowboarders to enjoy the moutain their own way in their own space for jumps etc. It's great to watch them from the lifts!

Price Paid: $0.00

Summary:
I use to love this place for a quick one day hit and then home. It was not far about two hours, the snow quality was good, the runs we're fun, and it had a really good vibe. Now since I don't know who spilled the info about this place FORGET IT, IT'S GONE!! This place use to be the Anti-Hunter but now it seems New York state has decided to advertise this place as a "family resort" well we all know what that means! You get a ton of whining little brats in the lift lines. People who have no idea how to ride a lift, let alone what the trail markers mean. Black diamond means advanced and double black means expert not "hey let me throw myself down this run and then lay at the bottom of the slope till a snowboarder has to make a super sudden turn to avoid me!" Please somebody sart limiting tickets or something this place is out of control!! I mean today since Belleyre has old lifts they we're so overworked that it took close to 45 minutes to reach the top from Super Chief with all the stop and go not to mention all the lift line traffic. I use to never complain about the top veing so flat I just use to carry my board to the next run or deal with the skating but try that now it's like a highway up there! If you walk you run the risk of some jerk mowing you down or it's so crowded that I can't put my foot down to push without having a ski ploe hit my foot! Finally but this is the best on Mowhawk today a former favorite of mine I just get out of the diamond section and into the blue when I see a bunch of kids in a "conga line" snowplowing down the mountain as I come speeding through! Do that on the greens and I wouldn't complain it's a slow skiing area but come on on a blue? They are like "buoys" out there and heaven forbid you get too close and you get an earful from an angry parent! Like I said forget Belleyre it's gone the state has killed it! If the state has it's way this will be the next Hunter!! I'm sticking to Windham for now on, yeah it can get crowded too but with modern lifts, good people, great runs, organized lift set ups, and the people seem to stay on the trails to their abilty level it just seems like the better place. Maybe I'll get lucky and this was all holiday traffic but from what I heard today this was normal for this season.

Summary:
If you're new or returning to skiing after a while, this is the place to get started. If you're into doing 70 mph to impress chicks, don't bother. The ski bunnies are at Hunter, waiting in the lift lines.

If you want 5 star eating, forget it - Belleayre is run by New York State, so the food is "rest stop" quality. But, if you're packing a lunch, who cares? I'm an old fart and go to ski.
