| | Reviewed by: YeloPeril, Snowboarder Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Went to Stratton as my first trip to Vermont for snowboarding. I got the Midwinter Stay and Ski package and stayed at the Liftline lodge. It was close enough to the lifts that I could walk there. The shuttle service worked well when I needed to head to the lodge/village area. The snow quality was real good when I was there (March 2006) and there were only one or two icy spots on the whole mountain. I hit the Sun Bowl when the lifts opened and for an hour and a half I had the trails to myself. And this was on Saturday. Even at the busiest time the longest I had to wait in the lift line was probably 5-10 minutes for the gondola. The restaurants in the village were pretty pricey but not outrageous and the food was real good. I had a blast up there and I definitely recommend riding at Stratton. Customer Service: Very good customer service. I enjoyed my stay there. Similar Products Used: None yet.

| | Reviewed by: cyfer, Snowboarder Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: I'm not too sure if I've ever seen a lift line that was very bad a Stratton before. I have seen lift lines there but nothing like the lines at Okemo's main Quad! That's a line! Stratton does have the best grooming and snowmaking in Southern Vermont. As for the price of the lift tickets they are high. Like any resort here in the East Coast since people were so quick to sue a large resorts if they got hurt back in the day. The insurance cost of the resorts are high in Vermont, so the price trickles down to the lift ticket price. Most of the shops are expensive too but I don't buy anything there most of the time so I'm fine with it. I just get a quick meal out of the lodge and that's it. The terrian is great but not as steep as I would like it. Killington is steeper but if you look around and take "off the main trail" runs you'll find something to your liking. Still it's a great resort and if you look around you can cheap lodging that includes lift tickets. Parking and getting around is another story all together. It's a nightmare and if you do drive up my suggestion is park your car and try not to move it. Public transportation can take you where you want to go. Driving is just a hassle there don't do it if it can be avoided. Great resort not the best but lots of fun. Cold days equal no lift lines so if it's gonna be cold Stratton is a great choice to beat the lift lines at Killington and Okemo!

| | Reviewed by: Jamaica, Advanced Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Stratton's problems are well documented, cost, attitude and lack of steeps. The one thing people miss is the evolving variety of Glades, marked and unmarked where you can go play and in the process get away the attitude.

| | Reviewed by: snofun3, Advanced Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: Stratton "distingushed" itself as the most expensive resort in North America last year with $72 weekend tickets. This year Vail is $1 more than Stratton, and people complain it's expensive there!?
For your $72 day you'll get an intermediate's VT hill hosting a cadre of NY lawyers and dentists who believe Stratton's a status symbol (really!).
If you do decide to go (why? - see below)) the terrain's intermediate's heaven, the grooming is good (with all those lawyers out there it'd have to be), the lifts run well and the crowds are reasonable (72 bucks keeps out the riff-raff, which is apparently part of the plan).
For skiing either go south to Mt. Snow (best in south Vermont), stay in the valley at Magic (great fun as long as there's some real snow), Killington (sometimes too crowded but varied terrain), Sugarbush (a long drive from south NE but worth it) or Mad River Glen (ski it if you can - really). Oh, did I mention they're all cheaper?
I really can't think of a compelling reason to go to Stratton unless it's supercold and they have the only gondola south of Killington.

| | Reviewed by: russtattoo, Intermediate, from Manchester, VT Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: I've been a skiier for 15+ years and just this year my wife and I learned to snowboard at Stratton. I must say that this is an excellent mountain with a top notch ski/snowboard school and has every amenity possible.
