Summary:
Alrighty, where to start? This mountain was real nice. The first day, of a total of 5, was OK, with some minor ice spots, but by the end of the day, it had begun to snow!

After the night, it was still snowing, all the next day it was pow, pow, and more pow, nothing but pow and it just kept falling. It was great, I rode all trails that didn't seem packed, which was many, the lift lines were short, there was a flat that pissed me off because it was near the lift that accesses some of the best terrain. I hated a slow line to go to the top of the mountain, but the pow runs up there were good.

I hit up Mt. Ellen after the 10 minute lift line, which was so-so scenic, but a little too long for my low attention span ass. Over there was great, the lines were a little bit shorter, the park was pretty good even, a little short, but the jumps were of good size, the rails were consistant and evenly spaced out, it had so-so flow. But, I feel the rest of the mountain was better, this is more of a freeride mountain, not freestyle.

After going to the top of Ellen, I skiied down through Panorama, which is an intermediate, but easy-ass trail with a nice view. Lots of picture-taking losers though. After I rode around a few of those idiots, i had a good choice of trails, ranging from blacks, double blacks, greens, and a few blues. I took every trail available, not counting F.I.S because snowboarding moguls is a pain. Following the intermediate, i found a little trail that winds through the woods for a nice little get-away, no bears or naked people in there, all was good.

Overall, this mountain delivered, but don't go there looking for an awesome park the size of new england, if you want that check out like Breck, Snow Summit, Park City is nice, or Whistler, if that doesn't do it for you, you expect something that isn't humanly possible.

Summary:
I skied Sugarbush back in '94, before all of the ASC infrastructure improvements, and had a blast! Had moved from Colorado after the '93 season and had to get a fix the next winter. They were having an epic season and we were psyched about all of the fresh snow. Only problem was that it rained on the mountain the day we drove up and had pretty icy conditions on the man-made snow tails. Even with that, we had an incredible time! The natural snow trails were pretty good, everything had great coverage, and I got my first taste of Castlerock.

Sugarbush is highly underrated. They don't have "OH MY GAWD" steeps, but they have good advanced and "expert" trails (better than anything Killington offers), and I was thoroughly entertained, even after skiing the big mtn resorts of Colorado over the past 2 years. I was so excited that there was such good skiing in the east, I looked into buying a condo there. (never did, though)

Go to Sugarbush and you will not be disappointed. Great train layout, long blue cruisers, great variety of blacks, some challenging, all over the mountain, and great snowfall. They have it all. We even got to ski the weekend on a $60/night ski and stay package (at Pepper's Lodge)! (subtract one star from overall rating when comparing to western resorts)
