Summary:
Learned to ski at Burke 20+ years ago. Still is my favorite. Will GLADLY drive past Waterville/Loon to ski at Burke with no crowds, friendly people, and outstanding skiing.

Summary:
Overall Burke Mountain and the town of East Burke is quintessential Vt. Quiet, pretty and friendly.(The owner of East Burke Sports let me use his own pair of skis to demo because they were out of my size). The lift is on the slow side but hey, I would'nt want to be anywhere else.

Summary:
Truly Vermont's northern star. Far enough out of the way that it's never crowded. One of the only affordable places left to ski for the average Vermonter. this was my backyard while growing up and although there are only about 35 trails, I've never tired of the terrain and beautiful views. Eventhough the only lift that goes to the top is a slow quad, I've had a few 15+ run days because the trails are FAST (Buke Mtn. Academy has turned out more than a few Olympic skiers)! Burke breeds hot skiers and us locals are hardcore! The terrain trails here are steeper than average. There's also plenty of beginner terrain including a toll road that winds down from the top.If you want to get in a lot of runs and not have to deal with any Massholes, Burke is for you.

Reviewed by: Michael Stahler, Advanced, from Lyndonville, Vermont

Summary:
I learned to ski at Burke on the J Bar ten years ago this month. It is a great mountain for experts and beginners (with their own area on the lower mountain!). Small, quiet, and beautiful, it is skiing the way it used to be. Snowmaking is improving and management/ownership deserves an applause for their hard work improving the resort (look for a new hotel and rec center complete with indoor pool next season). Rocks when there is lots of natural snow, but when there is not, the skiing is ten times better than it was here ten years ago. Never a crowd.
