| | Reviewed by: Tell TheTruth, Double Diamond Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: I sure hope all pay heed to the TN fellow, who didn't like the "redneck resort"! DO NOT COME HERE, PLEASE! It wasn't really built for outsiders in the first place. It surely wasn't built for such ilk as call folks "redneck" (from TN & HE says "redneck"?HA!). We like our privacy & wish it was completely off-limits to others. NO nightlife? Well, if you belong to the Club, there's PLENTY, but for passers-thru, nope, so why not just keep going!
Maybe the slopes were a few degrees too difficult, or did he perhaps not get off the kidie trails?
Really, this resort is NOT for those outside western NC...too pricey, unfriendly folk, & lots of bears.

| | Reviewed by: Joe, Advanced, from Asheville NC USA Summary: This place sucks. The terrain is great for NC, but the place is run by freakin' rednecks and they don't know what they're doing. The lifts break down all the time (had to stand in line over an hour while they fixed one and the other one wasn't running), the snowmaking is crappy (they make huge piles and leave them there) and the grooming is horrible if they even groom at all. I can't believe this place is still in business. There are freaking trees and thorns growing up in the slopes! I ripped my new gore-tex pants on a goddamn thorn growing in the middle of Whistling Dixie! Go North (Beech, Sugar, Hawksnest) until this place cleans up its act. What a sorry excuse for a ski area!

| | Reviewed by: mark, Beginner, from asheville, n.c., u.s.a. Summary: this is a very small resort.it is locally owned and operated and i generally refer to it as the redneck ski resort. and i mean that in a good way. i love the place! the riding sucks, but hell i don't know any better. it's a great place to learn. if i can learn to ride on the ice here i can ride anywhere. wolf laurel has a good feel to it. makes ya feel kind of fuzzy or maybe that's the pbr. anyway, a wintertime visit to this area wouldn't be complete w/o a visit to wolf laurel.
