OK, this might not be fair, because the only time I've been to Shawnee was MLK weekend, last year - one of the busiest ski weekends. But all day, I only got in 6 or 7 runs. It's a good thing I went with a good friend and we had lots to talk about on line and on the lifts!! The mountain was WAY too crowded, and I kept getting cut off by other people on the rare moments on the slopes. It is a good place for a beginner, or someone who had never known anything other than a crowded mountain, but I didn't really care for it. I suppose I might be willing to give it a second chance, if I ever get a midweek day off when it wouldn't be too crowded.

I am an instructor at Shawnee so I'm a little biased but I agree we have our positive and negative sides. I consider it my home mountain but not my favorite. It has that factor of being the place I learned to ski and the place I ski most.

this is definetely a great beginners mountain... there are many inexperienced people who try to be cool and go really fast but end up knocking people down...its annoying! there are some pretty good jumps though... i like skiing there till closing at 10 cuz its empty then
