Summary: ober gatlinburg bites!!!!! i wish there were an easier way to put it but thats the way it is. yes, there is a location/weather problem but that's not the whole story. ober cares only about making money and thats the way they run the place. of the 3 or 4 runs they have, 2 stay closed 95% of the time becuse they will not make snow on those particular runs. the lack of grooming is very dangerous. i've skied 10,000 ft. mountains with little problem, but i felt lucky to walk away from ober last time i was there. they choose to create unsafe conditions during heavy ski times and skiers and borders pay with life and limb. do yourself a favor and go 3.5 hours north to winterplace in w.v., or 2 hrs northeast to ski beech if you want decent southern skiing.

Summary: This place is a very good place for beginner skiiers; however, the ski school sessions are way too short to teach novice skiiers how to ski very well.

Summary: The really need to turn this palce over to someone who will clean it up and make it someplace worth going to . I spent 5 days there with my roomates and we all wanted to pack it up and drive to seven springs about 2 days into it. The place is pretty old looking and pretty dirty they dont do a very good job of keeping it clean. There are some good points to this place but not many : lots of hot single girls A++ Ski Patrol is pretty cool and fast to respond to injured skiers. and the snow condtions are not all that bad after a few runs when they break up all the ice.
