Summary: It is fun to go somewhere else for a day but when you drive for 2 hours and get rain is it really worth it? I love to ski at Smithers because they have lots of dry snow. Shames has a great base but it's wet and sloppy snow. I've heard that the backcountry skiing at Shames is great but I haven't been able to go yet.

Summary: Shames has really good skiing when you can get there but for comparable prices I'd rather drive the extra 2 hours and have wicked cliff skiing and a relaxing drink in Smithers
