Summary:
Fernie is a class hill for sure. The rideable acreage may not sound that much but the terrain will not let u get bored. Amazing off-piste, very good black runs to be found. diamond back, the saddles, anaconda glades all class. 7 lifts don't sound a lot, but the lift system works.

And get this, i went over christmas break (in europe expect ridiculous 30 min lift lines...) and i could ski right up to the lifts. NO KIDDING!! Longest que: few minutes. average lift wait was the time it takes to scan ur card. I think no matter how good the terrain or snow is, if ur standing getting cold in a line next to 100 other morons that have paid money to que up then the skiing is no fun. I paid hard earned money to ski, and i dont want queue up.

excellent snow, as good as u are going to get anywhere. Amazing powder, good groomed stuff too.

As for the nightlife… well there’s not much of that. However, I couldn’t care less. The restaurants in town and on the hill are very good. I recommend going to Rocky’s for the best burger in town and Boston pizza, and The Cornerpocket. If you go to Fernie you must go and see the ghostriders play. Very good icehockey (what would a Brit know…) and good atmosphere.

I thought the prices were very cheap. Then again, the pound is very strong and stuff is cheap in Canada anyway. I reckon your $$$s go about a third further than in the US. Much cheaper than France and Austria and Switzerland.

Anway… excellent terrain, amazing snow, nice town and no lifts. What else can u ask for?
other recommended:
Big Mountain, Montana. Jackson Hole. Big White BC. Colorado and California mostly sucks
