Summary:
I’ve lived in Bend for the past few years and have had a season pass to Bachelor. I would say the positives of Bachelor are you don’t have the crazy crowds you have in California. There is some great powder, and some trees. The season pass is still not as high as a lot of Colorado mountains. The backside is great. I’ve lived here post Powder corp. days, so I don’t know what it was like before. They don’t have a great rep locally. The down side is the black out’s for some of the season passes, not much steep terrain. Over all Bend is an awesome year round outdoor sports community. That’s probably why it’s one of the fastest growing places in the country.

Summary:
Mt. Bachelor is an enthusiasts mountain. as many have said, powder corp. has turned the bachelor into a worse and worse mountain over the years. but dont get me wrong... the bachelor has some of the best terrain in the west, the vast acreage and diversity of the runs once made this place a must-visit mountain. the runs at the bachelor are the same now, but powder corp. has jacked up prices and neglected maintenence so badly that its not worth visiting from other states anymore. if your local, pricing is okay, as you can get a season pass in october for 300 bucks, but powder corp has also alienated locals by making people pay through the nose for every service on the mountain. its obvious that powder corp.'s target market are the california yuppies with fat wallets. overall the mountain is great, the quad lifts despell crowding well, and the powder is the fluffiest by far in the northwest. the runs are also great. as ive said, if your an enthusiast, then you'll love it, because the lift tickets although spendy for oregon are cheap when compared to most the country. and if you can go a day without food or other services on the mountain, then it doesnt break you wallet badly. bottom line: Powder Corp. needs to leave and never come back.

Price Paid: $699.00 at MtBachelor

Summary:
I moved to Bend in April of 1994 after spending six winters living and working at my local ski area Sierra Summit in central California. I paid around $220 for a spring pass at Bachy which kept me riding till July 4! I have bought a season pass there every year for the past 12 years and have over 700 days on the mountain.
What Powdercorp has done to Bachelor SHOULD be criminal! Someone really should look at the amount of money Powdercorp didn't spend on labor. Labor to shovel out Northwest on multiple epic powder days missed. Labor to actually open all the lifts in the same day. The labor for Patrol to mark the outer boundaries so that they could open summit. Powdercorp will make record profits off of Bachelor this year while all the locals got......Anyway, Powdercorp is the devil!

Summary:
I live in the nearest town bend (20 miles or 40 minutes)and have a season pass to Mt. Bachelor. Although on a typical year the snowpack can be great (150-200 inches) it is the wet stuff right off the warm
pacific ocean. Don't let any advertisment fool you about the west coast sking from Whistler to Tahoe the snow doesn't compare to the Rockies or other inner-continent
mountian ranges such as in Utah or Wyoming. A few times each year we recieve a good overnight powder dump of two+ feet of snow. But it's the 6 inch to a foot
that is really the most fun because the lower part of the mountian is flat. (aka Mount Flatchelor) Did I say lower
part of the mountian is flat? That's right the summit has some pretty nice pitch (no true double black runs) but don't expect to ride the summit during your short vacation/visit here it is usually only open 5-10 days on average per month. Even then the best powder is down on the lower mountian because the wind blows so hard during the storms the summit can be closed for three weeks straight and the first day it's open all month gives you wind packed garbage snow, ice, and that darn pacific coast wind. Did i mention how hard the wind blows here? They closed the summit last week during a good bluebird day on the mountian because the wind was to
strong. As soon as my girlfriend and i can afford and are ready to relocate we are thinking Colorado maybe Montana. The Mt. Bachelor staff are some of the rudest
of any resort i've ever been to. I have a season pass so i don't deal with them much but if I was on vacation here I'd be upset. Also for vacationers Mt. Bachelor has no slopeside sking the nearest lodging is 18-20 miles. That means everyone going to the mountian uses this road,
expect a 45 minute drive bumper to bumper with ice. After a review this bad you probably think i'm trying to keep you away. I'm not. I grew up locally and know the mountian very well. The city of Bend used to own and operate Mt. bachelor which was recently bought out by PowderCorp they also own Alpine Meadows,CA in the Tahoe region and Park City resort in Utah (or own major intersts in these places yadda yadda)and have watched the service, maintenance of lifts/lodges, local
participation, ect, go downhill in the name of profit. Eventually I will move to the Rockies most likely in search
of friendlier mountians, steeper lines, drier powder, less wind. Or come see bachelor for yourself and you'll know
why there are better mountians to spend you hard earned money at.

Summary:
i am a bend native and have been skiing bachelor since i was little. it is a great mountian, i feel almost as if it is my own backyard......however, the management stinks. powder corp needs to sell, leave oregon and never come back. yes, bachelor is nice but it is not world class. their is enough yuppies in the area as is and oregon or the northwest for that matter does not need corporate greed pricing the locals out of the skiing market. i am sure bill healy never intended skiing bachelor to break the bank.
