| | Reviewed by: Michael Yura, Snowboarder Price Paid: $0.00 at travelorganizers.com Summary: Even moreso than other resorts, Las Lenas all depends upon how you hit it. It is typical South America in such that many things (ie power) that we take for granted are not reliable. They just do not plan ahead. The lifts are slow and old. The resort is expensive. Now about the good stuff. If the weather cooperates the conditions can be great. There are some horrific wind storms that blow through here that can close much of the mountain down. The top lift Marte that takes you to the good stuff is not always open. Either the winds close it down or an avalanche takes it out. The resort does have the ever looming threat of avalanches with heavy snow. I was only able to get to the top 2 times with a guide because the top lift was still closed. So you could go down there expecting to hit all this awesome backcountry skiing they have and never be able to get to it because of one reason or another. Understand this is a possibilty. I did enjoy myself for the week, but would have had a better time if I could have gotten to the top. The last 2 days of 18 inches of fresh power made up some of my loss. There was nobody out in the snowing conditions so you have the trails to yourself. THE ONLY REASON TO GO TO SOUTH AMERICA TO SKI IS BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SKI DURING OUR SUMMER MONTHS. OTHER THAN BRAGGING RIGHTS, THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE OF TRAVELING AND SPENINDING ALL THE MONEY AND TIME.

| | Reviewed by: redhill, Double Diamond Price Paid: $0.00 Summary: I ski in South America every summer, either in Chile or Argentina. This is the second time I've been to Las Lenas, the first experience wasn't good and I wanted to give them another chance. This experience has been no better. The skiing is OK, but no better than Valle Nevado or Portillo in Chile. The restaurants are terrible, the food is mediocre and the wine lists lack anything but poor quality wines. There are a lot of good South American wines out there, you just won't find them here. I won't be returning again, I find the skiing to be much better and other resorts. As hard as Las Lenas is to get to, it sure is not worth the effort in my opinion.
